Learn Sitar Online

online Sitar lessons: How I teach

  1. I start my online sitar lessons with a methodology to know the learner’s learning speed followed by tracking their progress so far.
  2. I then tailor a lesson plan to the learner’s specific abilities and requirements which is then followed by scheduled lessons on a daily/bi-weekly/weekly basis.

I recomment taking 1 sitar lesson per week to retain properly and to maintain continuity in learning. This goes for all the things that are to be learnt in life. Continuity trumps talent.

Online Sitar Lessons: WHat you need to do

  1. Once we have covered the first lesson/the first few lessons, and once you have learnt how to hold your sitar, you should go ahead and tune your sitar before each lesson. This ensures that you get the most out of your class minutes. (I would suggest investing in a good tuner. Alternatively, one could use their mobile phone to download a guitar tuner app. They work for Sitars too.)
  2. Find a comfortable seating area and set up your video call medium well.
  3. Go through some of the theory published here to better understand Sitar terminology and methodology.
